Setup guide

Set up Cortex Companion

Cortex Companion is in private beta. Connect your NexGen account and import Amazon reviews and Reddit conversations into Cortex. Chrome Web Store release coming soon.

  1. Step 1: Install Cortex Companion (private beta)

The Chrome Web Store listing is coming soon. During private beta, founders and testers can load the extension unpacked from the chrome-extension folder (Developer mode → Load unpacked).

  2. Step 2: Connect to Cortex

Open Cortex, sign in with your NexGen account, then visit /extension/connect to copy a pairing code into Cortex Companion.

  3. Step 3: Select a Cortex project

Refresh workspaces in the extension popup and choose where research should land.

  4. Step 4: Import Amazon or Reddit signals

Visit threads, subreddits, or review pages. Preview importable content, then click Import to Cortex.

  5. Step 5: Review in Cortex

Open your project research page to review imported audience signals and generate personas.

  6. Step 6: Aim for depth

Cortex personas are strongest when you import enough raw market language — reviews, objections, and buying triggers.

Better input = sharper personas

  • Import a broad mix of reviews and community conversations.
  • Include pain points, objections, alternatives, outcomes, and emotional language.
  • Prefer real discussions over generic summaries.
  • Use multiple threads or products when possible.
  • Skip irrelevant or spammy comments.
